I am a fun loving granny with a 30 year background in teaching. I worked in the state system before having my first child, Toby. When he was 18 months old I opened up my own nursery school which I ran very successfully for 21 years and from which I have many fond memories. I then came to live on the Isle of Wight and teach in my parents school before returning to the state system again. I became disillusioned and left. I had been running a party plan book business and decided on making this a full time career. After 7 loyal years, the company moved the goalposts. As this compromised my credibility, I left which caused me severe financial hardship. After a spell in the long dark tunnel, I emerged, becoming a multi award winner. I was voted Mumpreneur, Best Saleswoman category 2010, was runner up in the Hampshire Winning Women and was awarded the Shining star in the Party Plan Guru awards 2012. I have now been listed in the Top 100 Mums in the Mums Club businesses awards.
I continue to improve my knowledge and upgrade my skills but always seek to have fun. I mentor and guide team members in my Phoenix Cards Business I founded and ran Wightbuzz, a networking and business support group for the small and medium businesses on the Isle of Wight. In 2014, my son Tristan, who lives in Sydney, decided we should combine our skills to create a global network AllthingsNetworking.com It has been challenging but we have moved forward a long way and have so much more to offer our clients now. We are embracing all the modern social media platforms to our advantage and to help our clients keep up with all the current technology.
Wikaniko really is a fantastic opportunity. I wish you every success in this venture.
Hi Lyn,
I met you today (22nd February) at the baby show in the Excel. It was lovely chatting to you and seeing your enthusiasm about mums starting their own business. I did give you a leaflet about my car step, I know it was a busy day so you might have lost it, but I was wondering what advice you could give me about progressing and building my business up?
I look forward to hearing from you soon,
thanks,
Sally
